Our 2017 Giving Tuesday campaign has come to a close and because of your contribution, we raised over $13,000, surpassing last year’s amount by over $4,200 and this year’s $10,000 campaign goal. Over the course of our Pie Smash Happy Hour, we made a total of $4,130 in only three hours!
Your generosity helps CAPAL fulfill its mission to empower AANHPI youth by increasing access to public service opportunities and building a strong AANHPI public service pipeline. Through our programming, generations of young leaders have jump started their careers and in the process amplified the voice of the greater AANHPI community.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity and giving back. It inspires personal philanthropy and encourages bigger, better, and smarter charitable giving during the holiday season. This year’s theme was #CAPAL4GENERATIONS, and is a reflection of this fundraising campaign’s fourth anniversary as well as the idea that CAPAL is, first and foremost, an organization created by AANHPIs for AANHPIs.
THANK YOU again for supporting CAPAL. The team truly appreciates your effort in helping us surpass our goal this year and continue CAPAL’s work in amplifying the voices of the AANHPI community. We couldn’t have done this without you.

Public service takes many forms; spending a summer in DC also takes many forms. That being said, CAPAL is a program that caters to a variety of backgrounds. Diverse placements into different federal agencies allowed even me, a computer science major, to find a way forward in public service. If you have some inkling of interest about working in federal government, CAPAL is a great opportunity to help flesh out that idea. -Richard Li, 2017 US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Intern, sponsored by Google Intern
With your support, CAPAL is able to provide internship experiences to over 30 students like Richard each summer. But we do more than provide financial assistance. Our scholars and interns attend our Washington Leadership Program, gain access to high-level professionals in public service through our AANHPI Roundtable Series and are paired with a mentor to help guide their summer experience.
Be part of our Leaders Circle by making a monthly pledge of $20 or more! Help us reach our 2017 goal of $10,000, which supports up to 3 scholars and interns this summer.
