CAPAL Statement on Monterey Park, CA Mass Shooting

Washington, D.C. –The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) is devastated by the mass shooting that occurred on Lunar New Year eve in Monterey Park, CA this weekend.
What should have been a joyous, celebratory weekend for many Asian communities to welcome the new year was marred by this tragedy. It also further heightened fears and anxiety within our communities across the country, after experiencing a spike in anti-Asian rhetoric and violence since the onset of COVID-19.
Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those impacted. We’re also linking the fundraiser for the victims, and community vigils and resources:
