She is focusing on Public Management, Leadership, and Policy. She is originally from Colombia, Ohio. This summer, she interned at National Governor&#8217;s Association.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>What are the projects that you&#8217;re working on this summer?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;m working on a few critical infrastructure projects &#8211; elections, transportation, and so on. These are pervasive issues\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;ve never interacted with before, so\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;m interested in seeing how state and federal agencies are working together. Critical infrastructure is named as such for a reason &#8211; and there&#8217;<span class=\"il\">s<\/span>\u00a0a lot of behind the scenes work going into making sure that we can keep moving safely and efficiently.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15228 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capal.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG5078460543827820041.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capal.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG5078460543827820041.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.capal.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG5078460543827820041-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.capal.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG5078460543827820041-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>What is your definition of leadership?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Leadership is a state of mind &#8211; being able to say, &#8220;Heck,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;ll do it!&#8221; when you&#8217;re not entirely sure what needs to be done. Leadership is a form of trust, wherein your peers trust you to guide them into and through the unknown.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is something that people usually don\u2019t expect or know about you?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;m an identical twin (she&#8217;<span class=\"il\">s<\/span>\u00a0the evil one!) &#8211; and, even though\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>\u00a0grew up in California,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;ve always been a huge hockey fan.\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>\u00a0study dead and dying languages in my spare time. As The Great One said, you miss 100% of the shots you don&#8217;t take. So shoot! Wouldn&#8217;t you rather hit a wall and need to rethink, than to never try at all? Don&#8217;t you owe yourself that much?<\/p>\n<p><b>What are you most excited to do in Washington DC this summer?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">I<\/span>\u00a0have lived in DC before, and though\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>\u00a0love Columbus,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">I<\/span>&#8216;m just excited to have more space. My mental map of DC is growing, and there&#8217;<span class=\"il\">s<\/span>\u00a0always somewhere to take a walk, a museum to explore, something new. Sukhi served as the Service Officer for Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. the past year. She was greatly exposed to Sikh American representation through her involvement in with the Sikh community in Nevada and having grown up in Punjab until early childhood.
