What are your main responsibilities at your position? What are some of your big projects?\u00a0(this can include projects at your internship, your specific CAP project, etc)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I work at the U.S. Department of State in the Secretary\u2019s Office of Global Women\u2019s Issues (S\/GWI). Throughout my internship, I work closely with the Gender-Based Violence and Cross-Cutting Issues (GBV-CC) team. I focus primarily on attending interagency meetings with our counterparts throughout the federal government and work closely with the White House Gender Policy Council (GPC) in order to implement strategies that eradicate gender-based violence throughout the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does this internship fit with your professional and career goals?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I plan to join the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO) after graduation so this is my dream job!<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you hope to achieve this summer as a part of CAPAL\u2019s 2022 cohort?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I hope to foster a stronger connection to my AANHPI heritage and learn more about the various cultures and communities throughout the cohort.<\/span><\/p>\n

What does public service mean to you? What sparked your interest or desire to get involved with public service?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Public service is my way of serving the village that has raised me to become the powerful woman that I am today. Across the federal government, there is a significant lack of diversity that reflects in our policy, both domestic and foreign. As a first-generation woman of color, I believe it is my responsibility to represent the community that I came from and be at the forefront of change by having a seat at the table of these discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n
