The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership is proud to invite you to the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Washington Leadership Program!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Join us Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 6:30pm-8:30pm at U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, CVC-215.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Washington Leadership Program (WLP) is the perfect opportunity for interns and young professionals to both connect with each other and to meet seasoned Asian Pacific American professionals with backgrounds in everything from public service, non-profit work, economics, foreign policy, immigration, and more.<\/p>\n

We are excited to be partnering with the National Education Association<\/strong> for this year\u2019s Washington Leadership Program. Monica Thammarath<\/strong>, a senior liaison in the Office of Minority Community Organizing & Partnerships (MCOP), will be making brief opening remarks.<\/p>\n

We are excited to announce our WLP Opening Ceremony keynote speaker, Congresswoman Grace Meng<\/strong> of New York. Grace is the first Asian-American member of Congress from New York, and the first female Member of Congress from Queens since former Vice Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro. She is dedicated to fighting for the hardworking families of Queens by protecting Medicare and Social Security, spurring economic growth, creating jobs, ensuring access to a quality education and increasing funding for transportation and infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

In addition, our Opening Ceremony will feature a special workshop, \u201cPainless Networking,\u201d led by Marianne Cohen<\/strong> from Mannersmith Consulting<\/strong>. Marianne Cohen has an extensive background in marketing, public relations and event planning.\u00a0Painless Networking will provide fundamental skills needed to make a great first impression when meeting people in professional settings. The workshop is interactive, educational, and entertaining. Participants will learn how to handle the often-intimidating world of networking.<\/p>\n

Come connect! Meet other interns and professionals from the area, hear our wonderful speakers and learn to make a lasting impression!<\/p>\n
