What was the moment in your life when you realized you wanted to explore public service? Coming from New York, I have always been drawn to the I decided to intern at a non-profit in part because I was questioning the <\/span>why?<\/span><\/i> of my pursuits\u2014both at the collegiate and the professional level. It was then that I realized the amount of impact that I could make in the community\u2014the difference I can make in others\u2019 lives. I will never forget his smile or her sincere words of thanks. It made my experience worthwhile and it solidified my commitment to explore public service. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What motivates you?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think that to know that you have made an impact on someone\u2019s life, whether that individual only remembers it in that moment or for the rest of their life, is something extraordinary. So while a lot motivates me, almost all of my motivations revolve around being able to make a positive impact with my life. What are you most excited to do in Washington D.C. (or wherever you are)?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think my internship experience only comprises a small aspect of my experience here in DC. As such, I am very much looking forward to the weekend activities with my fellow interns. I have always had an interest in the public sector that was reflected in a few short stints at the NYS Supreme Court and the District Attorney\u2019s Office. I recently saw Melinda Gates at an event. She said a number\u00a0of things, but among the things that most reverberated with me was what she had to say about success. She quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson: \u201cTo know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Allen Lo is currently an undergraduate student at New York University, where he is pursuing a BA in Economics with a minor in History. Allen\u2019s background has primarily been in the intersection between the legal and financial sectors in New York City. He has spent time in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in a variety of capacities, but Allen recalls his time with the NYC Bar Association, the NYS Supreme Court, and the Chinese-American Planning Council as the most rewarding. Whenever he finds free time, Allen loves to travel and enjoys good company. Felicia Wong is currently a senior at the College of William and Mary, double majoring in Neuroscience and Asian American Studies, and minoring in Biochemistry. She is president of the Filipino American Student Association, and current non-academic projects include creating films calling for diversity curriculums\/requirements and establishing an official APIA Studies program. Felicia was also elected president of Global Medical Brigades to lead a sustainable healthcare program in rural communities in Nicaragua. She hopes to connect her interests in healthcare with the community she has found in her cultural background. Having lived in Germany for most of her childhood, Felicia makes yearly trips back to visit her family, providing opportunities for her to indulge in her greatest joys: touring castles, eating at caf\u00e9s, taking fashion cues from strangers, cooking with her family. Non-country specific pleasures include: biking, watching live music performances, screaming because Game of Thrones.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
