Nien<\/span>\u00a0Su<\/span>\u00a0currently serves as the Chief Economic Advisor for the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to joining the Committee,\u00a0Nien<\/span>\u00a0was Director for International Corporate Affairs, in Walmart\u2019s strategic initiatives unit supporting the company\u2019s long-term development priorities in China. Prior to joining Walmart,\u00a0Nien<\/span>\u00a0served in a number of positions in public service, including with the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, Department of State, and White House.\u00a0Nien<\/span>\u00a0earned a BA in international affairs and a MA in legislative affairs from George Washington University, and an MBA from the University of Arkansas’ Walton School of Business.<\/p>\n

Currently an intern at the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership office, Camille Sanchez has been behind the scenes coordinating the Roundtable Leadership Series and other events this summer, but this time around, it’s her time to shine. Originating from Rockford, Illinois, Camille traveled 2,000 miles to attend Pomona College in southern California, where she majors in Public Policy Analysis with a concentration in Economics and minors\u00a0in Chinese and Art.<\/p>\n

She is passionate about youth leadership and creativity development, increasing accessibility to education, mobilizing students politically, and achieving social justice. This is manifested in her work as an art teacher and a writing mentor for the Weekly Writing Workshop, a program helping foster creativity in local under-served youth; a volunteer tutor at the Saturday Tongan Education Program (STEP), an academic support program for local Tongan youth; a mentor for the Asian American Mentor Program, in which she helps API first-years adjust to college as well as introduces them to identity\/racial politics; and President of Kasama Filipinx\/American Students Organization, where she strives to increase visibility of the Filpinx community and its issues. Camille hopes to continue fighting for education policy and economic policy reform, both domestically and globally.<\/p>\n

More About CAPAL’s AANHPI Roundtable Series<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The AANHPI Roundtable Series provides an opportunity for students and young professionals in Washington, DC to learn from public service leaders in our community in an intimate and conversational setting. Each roundtable features one public service leader and accommodates at most 25 attendees. Every roundtable session is free and open to the public, however, due to a limited seating we encourage attendees to register in order to ensure a seat.\u00a0Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n

The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) seeks to empower Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) youth by increasing access to public service opportunities and building a strong AANHPI public service pipeline. We\u00a0envisions a future with equitable AANHPI representation throughout all levels of government and public service.<\/p>\n
