Our Mission
The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization dedicated to building leadership and public policy knowledge within the Asian Pacific American community. Its mission is to promote APA interests and success in public service careers, to provide information and education on policy issues affecting the APA community, and to serve the APA community at large.
Washington Leadership Program
Each summer, CAPAL organizes a leadership training program called the Washington Leadership Program (WLP) for interns in Washington, DC. For the last two decades, WLP has been the only educational and leadership development working series in Washington, DC that focuses specifically on the APA community and our role in public policy. WLP is a series of free evening programs intended to supplement a Washington, DC internship experience. [read more]Federal Internship Program
CAPAL will place nine (9) summer interns in the U.S. Federal Government. These internship positions are open to ALL MAJORS, and are suited for individuals looking to gain real-world federal government experience. [read more]Professional Development Program
Throughout the year, CAPAL organizes regular professional development programming in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Events are open to professionals from all sectors who have an interest in public service and/or the Asian Pacific American community. [read more]Scholarship Program
The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) will award three (3) scholarships to outstanding Asian Pacific American (APA) students committed to public service and community action, who will complete an internship in our nation’s capital during the summer of 2012.
