Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CAPAL! CAPAL is seeking volunteers who are passionate and committed to our vision of building leadership in public service, active civic engagement, and policy knowledge within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community.
Volunteer Benefits: Learn about the workings of a small, dynamic nonprofit dedicated to the AANHPI community, connect with CAPAL board members, affiliates and partner organizations, and receive free/discounted admission to special events and CAPAL’s Gala,
Volunteer Requirements: Must be 15 or older. For certain activities, you must agree to a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.

At the end of each year, CAPAL accepts applications from candidates interested in joining the Board of Directors. Board members promote CAPAL’s mission and purpose by contributing to its programs and services, strengthening its infrastructure and internal capacity, and participating in fundraising and recruitment efforts. All board members are expected to attend monthly CAPAL Board Meetings and actively participate in one or more assigned committees and task forces. We ask that all candidates commit to serving a full three-year term. Learn more about serving on our Board: https://www.capal.org/site/boardapplications.
Every summer, hundreds of bright and motivated students participate in the Washington Leadership Program (WLP), a weekly series of educational and leadership development seminars that focus on issues of interest to the AANHPI community. If you are a professional with experience working in the public sector, you can help a college student this summer take his or her first step in pursuing a successful career in public service. Our mentorship program will not only allow you to develop meaningful relationships with WLP participants, it will open you to a huge network of professionals who have a similar vision for helping AANHPI succeed in the public sector. If you would like more information about being a mentor, please contact info@capal.org.
The CAPAL office is staffed by two full-time employees who oversee the logistics of CAPAL’s annual programs, daily operations, and development activities. Administrative volunteers would be tasked with learning about CAPAL’s history and network, becoming familiar with our databases, and performing logistical duties at events throughout the year. If you have any questions about administrative volunteer duties, please indicate so when you fill out the volunteer form or email info@capal.org for more information.
