Happy Juneteenth! On June 19th, we honor the histories of solidarity between the Black, Asian, and Pasifika communities, and our intersecting struggles. These educational slides were posted on our Instagram (@capaldc) on June 19th.
June 19th is also the 42nd anniversary of the brutal hate crime targeting Vincent Chin, a Chinese American who was beaten to death in a racially charged hate crime in 1982. We honor him, as well as the thousands of AAPI individuals subject to the rise in AAPI hate crimes as well as Black Americans who continue to be subject to racial violence.
